Notes for Resized LCD Models AUGUST 2012

1. Jumper wires are used on circuit boards of some resized LCDs to
compensate for portions of circuit boards that were moved or removed. A
jumper wire is identifiable in the pictures of the resized display models as a
wire with white insulation. Typically, the wire is 30 gauge. If the display is
to be ruggedized for shock and vibration, these wires need to be attached
using techniques appropriate for the application.

2. Cut ends of circuit board are sanded and cleaned, but insulation is not
added to cover exposed edges. If the edge touches a conductor it will
damage circuits or cause anomalies. If the display is to be ruggedized for
temperature and humidity, these circuit boards may need to be ruggedized
using techniques appropriate for the application.

3. Top surface of top glass under polarizer, in LCDs such as NEC
NL10276BC16-01, is covered with transparent conductor, and the LCD
manufacturer recommends grounding it to case-ground in order to prevent
electrostatic charge accumulation and image retention.

4. For detailed performance specifications and electrical interface, see the
specification for performance of the original LCD. Performance of resized
LCDs are warranted for 12 months, after the date of shipment, to be the
same as that of the original manufacture, as described in the manufacturer’s
specifications.

5. Unless otherwise noted, all circuit boards can be folded behind the LCD
at the point of attachment to the LCD glass. Circuit boards that cannot be
folded back are indicated with an asterisk (*). Flexible circuit boards can be
folded to accommodate the installation.

6. The seal between the glass plates added during the resizing process is up
to within 0.200 inches (5.0 mm) from cut edge. For custom designs, smaller
seal areas are available upon request and at an additional cost.

7. Cut edge dimension tolerance is plus or minus 0.010 inches (0.25mm).
Tighter tolerances are available upon request.

8. Extended interconnection ribbon cable may be added as needed to fit the
installation requirements. The interconnections are shown on the resized
LCD model diagrams with a blue line and arrow.

9. Maximum guaranteed active area is shown in the resized model diagram
data. Less area can be used in applications through software design and
bezel design. The available active area can often be increased with a custom
design change upon request.

10. Glass footprint is shown in the resized model diagrams. Other sizes
may be available upon request for a custom design. The border of inactive
area between the maximum image area and glass footprint is typically 0.20
inches (5 mm).
11. Resized LCDs are shown in normal viewing position where the raster
starts in the upper left hand corner. If this corner includes a cut glass edge,
the resized LCD raster may not start at the same point in the displayed image
as the original source image. The software must be adjusted accordingly.

12. Chamfers are available upon request. Chamfers of 0.2 inches (5 mm)
are available on all corners of most resized LCD models upon request. A
larger chamfer on the corner opposite the TABs connected to the glass is
available upon request for custom design. If the LCD has redundant row
TABs or driver chips on the glass, a larger chamfer may be available at
either corner–but not both corners.
